The City of Oklahoma City, an official capital and the most populous city of the U.S. state of Oklahoma, is commonly referred to as OKC. With a population of 681,054 in the 2020 census, the city ranks 20th among United States cities in population and is the 8th largest city in the Southern United States.

While the city limits extend somewhat into Canadian, Cleveland, and Pottawatomie counties, much of those areas outside the core Oklahoma County are comprised of suburban tracts or protected rural zones. In terms of area including consolidated city-counties, Oklahoma City is the eighth-largest in the United States and second-largest, after Houston, not including consolidated cities. Oklahoma City boasts one of the world's largest livestock markets and has a thriving economy, with its largest sector being oil, natural gas, petroleum products, and related industries.
